I had to check a remote control today and remembered a tip I pick up some time back and thought i would pass it on.
If you look at the emmiter end through a digital camera you will see the diode ? light when you press a function button.
Can save a lot of messing about changing batteries e.t.c

just tried this on my phone cam and it works..great tip

I stumbled on this trick a couple of years ago and can be quite handy now and again.

I just point them at the telly, they usually make the light flicker even if they are for something else.

I think you will also find if you point it at the sensors on you auto welding helmet it will operate the auto darken, though what you would be doing with a remote and you helmet on does make you ponder....
