Reliable regulators?

Hi All,

I just got hold of some old regulators. They look pretty old, but not really damaged or anything. However I have doubts about the reliability of the prehistoric Oxy/Acetylene regulators. I could not discover a test date or CE mark on them. Probably too old for that and I am not even sure whether the new ones have such a certification,
Now my question is: can I still use those O/A regulators, can I test them, or should I bin them?

I'd bin them. I dismantled an old Calor regulator that looked OK on the outside but was corroded on the inside.

As above.... if they don't have any test date etc on them, then bin them.

All regulators nowadays have a 5-6 year life from manufacture, and will have the replace date stamped on them. It is recommended that they are replaced within this time, or if they are damaged beforehand.

Oxy/Fuel regs especially should be kept an eye on.... don't want the slightest leak from them, or you could have a few problems....

I run a messer co4 bottle with a 30 year old regulator from a soft drink / coffee machine!!! it has accurate gauges and its never let me down . It also fits messer which i use . I couldnt possibly change .

Dont screw around with SH oxy/acetylene regs, I bought one for acetylene off fleabay.
I was usning ti one day when I spotted a flame a foot long coming out of the top. Took it off, dismantled and put it the scrap metal box. Never again, acetylene is dodgy stuff, and accidents might be rare but they are spectacular.
