Reinforcing bar

Long shot?

Anyone know the exact outside diameter of T20 reinforcing bars. They are ribbed along their length - does the 20mm refer to the OD or the thinner part of the bar. Google revealing nothing
Need to order a punch to put holes through some plates to weld these in. Anchor plates to be cast into some concrete pads for remedial works to a leaning stair frame.

Everywhere gives you csa, yield etc etc, but nothing on diameters. Even Corus!

acording to my PDF 20mm should be 20mm on the smallest part of the bar so minus the ribs......

Iv got the welding throat, and lengths if you need them......

dont hold me to this but i THINK its 24mm BUT if your threading it through some hols id give it 26mm its not made very accuratly as 99% of the time its just wired together and buried in concrete...
if you give it 26mm you will defo have enough room to get a good weld around it

no doesn't say, but says its measured from the smallest Dia, so I take it thats minus the ribs, I'm guessing they vary on the grade, Iv got a listing for 4 grades and from the pics the ribs don't look the same......

on welding the stuff, well you've met the monkeys who stick the stuff together daily, cant see you going too far wrong

Found it Paul, Knew I had more on it, TC (temcore) has the durbar type markings, needs a clearance hole of 25mm, so I'm guessing 24mm as a rough OD is about right.......
