Rehmann inverters

I know a lot of folks on here don't rate the rehmann inverters on ebay,an i can see your points being chinese made an all,but has anybody on here that have purchased 1 been able to give them a proper trial yet? Are they in your opinion worth the money,at the prices they seem to go for i'm tempted to give 1 a go an if it only lasts a year or 2 then i aint lost much.

Do a search here and you'll find varying remarks. AFAIK, no one has actually managed to destroy one of the 160 amp ones yet. Mine is OK. It works fine.

Don't do the "buy it now" option!

I know what you mean about the buy it now prices,a bit on the steep side,i am very tempted by the 200 model.

Mine is a rebadged Wenzhou Mao unit. 160 Amp AC DC and 40 Amp plasma cutter. If you could see how I've abused it in frustration at my welding attempts you'd become an instant fan. Only bad thing I could say was after running 160 amps through her tripping out the duty cycle thingymajig every 15 minutes for a evening I managed to melt the gas hosing to the electrode. This design had a single copper cable running instide a rubber hose instead of forming part of the hose shield. Bought a new hose unit for 30 quid and never had another problem. They may be chinese, but whoever they copied their design from must be bloody livid.

Also had a look inside...I know a wee bit about electrickery...and was mildly impressed. Not bad for your buck, and I'm a tight bastid.

I bought a Rehmann 160amp TIG off Ebay last December.

It worked well for a while but then packed up which was a bit disappointing after all the good reports I had read.
I had a look inside the case but there was nothing obviously wrong, poking and prodding got me nowhere.
So I decided to take Felzen Group up on their 2 year warranty.
I emailed them first for a returns number but got no reply.
So with nothing to lose except the postage I sent it back to them.
I used the track and trace facility on the Parcelfarce website and found out when it had been delivered.
One week later (day before yesterday) I emailed them again chasing my welder, again no reply.
I was thinking of ringing them up yesterday to keep the pressure up when the Parcelfarce guy rolled up with my TIG.

I've been down the garage and tested it, nothing major just laid a few welds at different current settings, everything seems OK.

Can't complain at service like that.

I'm thinking about bidding one of the rehmann 160 inverters . I have a bottle of argon that has come my way free. I only want it to weld 22/20 gauge mild steel . I can do it with my mig but i've been itching to try out a tig for some time but the price of a tig had put me off, until I saw the rehmann 160 ,it looks very tempting especialy with a 2 year warrenty . So is it a good buy or not for what i want to do.? Any help would be appreciated.

I think it'll be fine for that. Not sure that someone with the Miller handle should be buying one, though!

Fingers99 It's only a italian made one, a fairly basic gas/no gas type, not a yanky fancy heavy duty industrial jobbie. It's used mainly for motor cycle and sidecar work maybe a trike next time ( not a Triang ).

I suppose you pays your money and takes your choice.
The last TIG welding I did was as an apprentice, when Moses was a lad, on a Miller Synchrowave unit.
I've never read anything really bad about the Rehmann 160amp TIG, in fact I missed out on a group buy on another forum I frequent, but the guys on there seem happy with them.
I've never used anything else to compare it with (can't count the Miller it was too long ago).
I think as long as you take it for what it is, it's a reasonable bit of kit.
