Regulator help

Hi i recently purchased a clarke 150te off ebay, it came with no gas bottle. I always planned to use the bigger gas bottles so was aware i needed to buy a different regulator for this

while looking at the regulator that came with the mig it looked to heavy duty to be for disposable bottles

below is a pic of said regulator

can anyone let me know if this is for disposable or larger gas bottles

large one mate but looks a bit gashed... most people i know replace their reg every 5 years you dont want 200 plus bar of argoshield coming through your torch or a 40kg missile flying through the air

Knew it was to good to be true, better add a new reg to the list, cheers for your help mate

air on the side of safety yes . ive had my regulators on my oxy acetylene bottles for 35 years along with the hoses which are still in good condition. i have a spare new set but they have never been needed

Off you go wasting good money. My oxy-acet hoses are at least 50yrs old
the outsides are a bit crumbly, but they don't leak much....

i have heard that regs have a 5 year lifespan and if they go bang afterwards your insurance wont cover you

The reg you have there does not seam to have any gauge(s) on it so even if you were to use it you would then need to buy a flow or pressure gauge(s) to know what to set it to. Better investing in a reg, flow, pressure gauge combined (see welequip shop at top of page for details). The thread on the gauge you have there looks to have the thread for a full size (boc type) Argon mix bottle. Note some of the smaller "no rental" type bottles that are filled with Argon mix use the CO2 type connection. So before you rushout and buy a gauge setup make sure you know what type of fitting you bottles will have. You can buy adapters but From what I've seen posted in past they can be as dear as a new reg! When you look at weldequips site you will see the two type "CO2" and "Ar mix" CO2 (and non rental Ar mix) have MALE thread on BOTTLE and Ar mix (boc type) have FEMALE on BOTTLE.
