First post since my intro so be gentle with me
I've just fitted a Y sized bottle of Argoshield Universal having decided that £13 a throw disposables were toooo expensive. Having tried it for the first time I'm noticing a 'film' of brown dust left on top of the welded area, I'm hoping this is just a by product of the gas.
More worryingly (sp?) I've set the gas flow to 15 l/m so when I press the trigger it gives 10 l/m roughly but occasionaly when welding I get a 'popping' noise from the regulator and the 'flow' needle fluctuates from 0 to 15 l/m. I have to switch off the gas from the regulator and set it up again, this may last for a couple of minutes and then off we go again.
Could it be I've not opened the bottle valve enough? (not sure how far to turn it, usually 1/2 to 1 turn from closed).
Any ideas gratefully received.
