Regulator for BOC bottles

Hi

I'm looking for some advice on which regulator to get for a BOC Argoshield bottle. Make no mistake, I'm a total beginner at this (haven't even taken my welder out of the box yet) so whilst I've searched and read various topics I'm still a bit unsure.

Welder is a Clarke 135TE. Will be welding car bodywork (Classic Mini, panels 1mm or thinner).

I need to make a trip to MachineMart so if any of their regulators are suitable for use then that'd be great!

Also I haven't got my gas bottle yet so whilst BOC seems a slightly more expensive option it looks like the easiest place to just drive and pickup some gas (as I need this for tomorrow). Unless someone has any other suggestions for gas in the Newcastle area.

Also are there any very simple instructions for attaching the regulator to the gas bottle. I'm more worried about this than the actual welding!

Try calling BOC 0800 111 333 and tell them you would like to take up the Volkszone offer, This is a Y size bottle of Argoshield light gas which is ideal for automotive and light fabrication jobs. It will last for around 500 minutes welding. It's a very good deal and much cheaper than just taking out a normal BOC account,I believe they can sign you up over the phone.But you will have to check that your local BOC depot carries the argoshield light,if not they can get one for you within a couple of days,When connecting the regulator, just open the bottle valve a little way for a second to blow out any dust or debris that may be present (stand well to the side of the blast) check that the regulator domed mating face is clean and free from marks,Screw onto regulator and tighten quite firmly but don't go overboard.You can aways check for leaks with a little soapy water around the connection,

Ideally you will need a gas key, I, like you tried my first boc bottle tonight, I used a small socket & ratchet to open and close the bottle, but its worth knowing there is no handle on the boc argoshield, unlike the co2 bottles
