Here you go: Close your eyes tightly in front of a mirror, open them, look yourself in the eyes and ask "what do I REALLY want to do now". Then do that.
If you are not going to get anything other than the Government payout, I would think twice about any meetings unless I was getting paid. Just call them up and be blunt with them, Do you want me to go Yes/No Put it in writing, thank you very much, goodbye.
Look upon this as an opportunity, you only get one go on this roundabout, make it memorable. Or at the very least satisfying.
I always have. Any "consultation" with anyone is just a box ticking exercise.

I have ups and I have downs, but keep myself busy doing stuff I want to do. Im lucky as my missus still works and she seemingly enjoys her job
......me, the fun went out of mine about 10-years ago when the firm I was working for then, nearly killed me through the ever present "cost saving" regimes. It dawned on me I was just a commodity like the spares sitting on the shelf in the workshops...Left for another job soon after.
