Hello,
Part of my structure (essentially a 2m high slim box-the thing in my profile pic) made of 3mm mild steel sheet, is giving me problems: the 'back' panel, about 150mm wide, is made from two sections. The butt joint has a 3mm backing piece with about 20-40mm on each half. I chamfered the upper edges of the joint by eye rather than exactly.
This panel is flat, all the others have some degree of curve in them.
This joint keeps cracking. I have ground it out and re-welded more than once, each time with increasing care.
I'm moving towards painting time and obviously can't have any movement.
Any ideas?
Many thanks
