What gauge of steel do I use?
I think I was using 25mm OD ERW tubing, wall thickness about 1.25mm
Not the best stuff for bike forks but it works.
I will get them measured up and report back if it is different.

you still doing a recumbent? I got plans for one very similar to the one MTS posted on this thread. Mostly made from 30 x 30 x 16swg shs.
Pm me your email addy if you want and i'll zip them over.
Speaking of 90s MTBs my ride is a Diamond Back Topanga. Had several modern alternatives since but it's like an old pair of boots. I gave my last purchase away, can't remember what it was but ally frame front shocks etc I just didn't use it.

Watch out for raking the front too much, they reach the point of wanting to flop about all over the place. If you want longer forks lift the front end as well.
There probably plans and drawings for this stuff.
But plans for a chopper??????? good grief.
A good tip, tack the head tube on, fit a back wheel and use a pole to get a feel for the length of forks needed.
Examples of fork length and rake
Dr Hannibal.
Rides like a dream nobody has ever crashed this one.
Foxy Lady we went for a really raked head tube.
Rides like a pig, all over the place and no ground clearance
If we had raised the front and kept the long forks we would have been fine.
