I assume you are fitting an in cab isolator, I have known of scrotes messing with winches when the vehicles parked, oh and don't forget to fit it with tamper proof or shear bolts I use these as they can be removed but I found them the most difficult

Thanks for the update, all too often I see people fit a winch and not give a thought to the essential bits and pieces.I used those nogo ones on the front winch on your recomendation good idea thanks, under bonnet isolator and a incab switch will be fitted

A bit more planning as you have done makes it a more reliable thing thats ready to use when you need it.
One last tip I suspect you will know is use it monthly and change the lube every year
Yes spool it out then back in with a load on just to keep the cable neat.
If you can find a course its well worth doing some training too.
Only reason I say about the lube is I used to see so many that had been scrapped just down to neglect, if they had been cleaned and repaired every 12 months then they would still be working.
Most common faults are solenoids and neglect, Oh I did see the odd case of stupidity too.
I shut up shop when the Chinese on Ebay started to sell what looked identical for half the price, I was inundated with people who wanted a poorly made often unsafe winch repairing for £5 as the Ebay vendor had disappeared.
I mainly repaired Warn 8274s for recovery contractors / scrap men, fantastic but very basic engineering but shocking cost new.
I fitted a Warn M8000 to my RR, excellent bit of kit.the Warn winches are well made and parts readily available I would love a warn easy to fix and maintain the chinese ones aint!
