Recommended spray gun for novice

So I've welded up the van and nearly finished the panels. Next step is to paint the whole van, a VW T4. Its a workhorse and I was planning on the old roller brush and rust-oleum but I have a decent compressor system so I wonder if I might be better off with a decent spray gun.

I don't know what to look for in a gun. It will be used to do the van but also for bike fairings and of course I'll read up on "how to spray with a spray gun". Meantime, I'm scouring eBay and wondering what I am supposed to be looking for.

I like to buy secondhand, budget is say £50 to £100 ish. For a first time spray artist, I don't need the best just the most suitable.

you will need to match a gun to the output of your compressor so you will need to know how many cfm your compressor is

Don't look past the fastmover guns, they are great for the money. I bought a fastmover mini gun a few weeks back and its capable of excellent results, its me who messes up ! You should be able to buy a fullsized one for a lot less than your budget.

FMT3006 with 1.8mm nozzle for primer and 1.3mm nozzle for topcoats. Should be able to get both for your budget and have some left over

I have just painted a pair of 'fridge doors with that combination and to be frank, I can't see the difference from my Devilbiss gun at three times the price. There was not so much overspray either.

I bought a Devilbiss FLG5 1.8 and 1.4, they cost about £70 each after having poor results with my £10 Aldi/Lidl gun. So far I am very please with the results.

Look very cheap. Buyer seems to be suggesting Duren are the same as fastmover. Is that true?

Avoid. They are similar to one of the older Fast Mover models. Definitely not the FMT3006.

Yes that's a set that will cover all work. JTB are one of the cheapest as well.
