My two sets of pliers/cutters arrived this morning (2 days earlier than expected by the way). I am more than pleased with them. I got Knipex in the end and am glad I did. First thing was to hold them up to sunlight (yes, we have some sunshine today) and see if there was even the slightest glint through the faces. Absolutely nothing. Which was what I was of course hoping for. I then tried both combi pliers and the cutters on some 0.8mm mig wire (standard copper coated mild steel). Both gave a wonderful and incredibly easy cut that is very clean. Even my Elliot Lucas cutters didn't cut this cleanly or easily but they are 40+ years old now and have been abused; not by me I would add.

So I am now one happy bunny. Having arthritis (pretty much every joint of my body but certainly my wrists and fingers) an easy and clean cut is high on my priority list. I just wish I had splashed out on quality tools years ago (my Lucas tools were inherited).

TBH it's all down to how much you pay for them. Used Gedore, Facom and Knipex - all are fine but they all pretty well much cost the same.

as for Snap on I wold not give them room in the box I use the Knipex

I use both and imo all though the SO stuff is way over priced the linesman pliers are the best I've used. Had my pair years and they will cut crimp and crush as well as the day I got em.
Knipex cutters are bang on I have them too.

they are good but only last a year in constant use 7 days a week. I can notice when the edge is slightly off them even if others cant

You must hammer them mate if your taking the edges off those linesman pliers. I frequently have them through 2.4mm stainless subarc wire.
My GeDores get battered mind with 4/5mm wires. The edges on those are fading.

I'd recommend the knipex too, have a pair of long handle side cutters with years and still cut without issue, mostly used for fencing wire now. I also got a pair of the knipex cobra channel lock pliers about a year back and they are excellent, great grip without being bulky and awkward.
