Recommend some goggles.....

Grinding and cutting yesterday wearing a pair of cheap no brand goggles. The type that are supposed to seal around your nose and forehead. And still managed this to happen

Anyone recommend some that are airtight?
I think the grinder "blew" them under the goggles.
I think they are particles of disc as rare earth magnets havnt shifted them although a wet cotton bud has halved the bigger one.

This isn't the first time I've had crap in my eyes whilst wearing goggles, I gave up on glasses long ago for the same reasons.

The Uvex ski goggle type with the rubber seal against the face are one of the best. They should also be the 'impact' type that will resist the force of something being thrown against them. @Parm will know the EN no


IMO the cheapy flimsy goggles that the likes of B&Q and some of the more industrial shops sell should be banned. Same with the paper dust masks which are as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike.

I've got the **** end of one out with a combination of a small resitor leg bent into a small hoop and wet cotton buds.
Other one doesn't want to shift yet hopefully it will come loose tommorow.
If not I'll have to act my age and go get it dug out

I must be lucky as I find they loosen up after a day or so. I wouldn't leave it if it caused pain or was under the surface but i can see them sitting on the top.... just can't seem to knock them loose.

I use my heat gun to shape them to fit my face better as well.

Bolle, and uvex as mentioned above are both good. A full face shield is also worth considering.

I use Bolle Trackers, if you use the strap (Which I usually don't) they completely seal around your eyes. I found the strap a bit uncomfortable but I never got anything in my eyes without it. I'll definitely order another pair when my current ones break.

I've got the orange Uvex ones and they are very good and don't steam up, I also wear glasses.
I've actually just bought a second pair as the first have gone missing and I wouldn't have bothered if they were no good.
Screwfix do them for about £12.

Uvex 'Utrasonic' are about the best ive ever used, fit over smaller prescription galsses too ithout steaming issues.
If you need them to fit over bigger glasses, the 'Ultravision' one are just about as good.

I had that happen to me last weekend, it took until this weekend just gone for it to shift itself. I've been wearing Snap-on specs no less but I think it's time for something better. I've looked and it'll either be the Uvex ski goggles already mentioned above, or even the Honeywell face shield like this here. Although the latter is much cheaper on eBay.

Hartlepool... I know it'll be a 30min drive for you but I can't say enough good things about the royal Eye Infirmary (sunderland)

I've been... a few times with stuff in my eyes

no need for an appointment, just walk in, you're seen to quickly, nurse has a quick look first and then sends you to an optometrist (I think) in the next room who gets whatever it is out of your eye

if it's something horrible in there (it was for my dad once) you're sent to an eye surgeon along the corridor who fixes it straight away


no idea if you have somewhere like that local to you? I HATE a+e wait times

None we have a minor injuries clinic that's it lol
It will be eye infirmary if I ever have to go lol
