I've had a Tilley Hat for maybe 6 or 7 years - and while not cheap it really is a good bit of kit.
(I look like a raving Remedial in any hat tbh - so it foes nothing for my street-cred, but when you really need a lid to keep the weather off, it's the least of my concerns, & the Tilley does the biz).

Tilleys are also hat sized not just S M L so a good fit is possible . Best I've ever worn and I'm a compulsive sun hat wearer along with sandals AND socks. Credibility shot!!!How about a Tilley hat ?...

I’ll just leave this here…
I still have my Grandfather's bowler that he wore when he was station master in our village on the top edge of Sheffield, not long after he was demobbed from the army after the Great War.
And I also have his brass pocket watch that he gave to my Dad who became station master in the early 1950's. The station is long gone thanks to Dr Beeching but the line is still in use and runs alongside the n/b M1 beyond junction 34 at Tinsley Viaduct.

I don't know how you apply it but I've found that it doesn't keep the sun out of my eyes .Have you considered sun block

As I now live in Manchester as a nod to my Northern Heritage I wear a waxed flat cap by Barbour and when going out I wear a tweed knit flat cap, by Barbour. I am nowadays forever "losing" them, (misplaced) by putting them in ridiculous places in the workshop or shop, then after buying a replacement finding them weeks later. Wouldn't ever go out without a hat despite my mother telling me (for years) that I would lose my hair, I haven't!
I really hate you lot sometimes. Now I've had to buy a new hat.

When it gets hot it a Tilley hat soaked in water for me for the refrigerant effect of evaporation .
