Recommend me a drill

hello I am in the process of needing to buy a 240 volt drill and wonder what make/size you would recommend I purchase.Thanks for your replies.

Hand drill or Pillar drill?
Whats the max diameter bit are you likely to use?

It would be a hand drill and I would be drilling at the max 13mm holes.I did have an old Makita 110 but I cant find it anywhere.I was just wondering if the new Makita drills would be as good or if I should go for one that somebody could recommend me.

Pistol drill, Hitachi D13VF, Quite compact, but its got some serious torque.
Fast enough to use smaller drill bits to, and light enough to use one handed for riveting etc.

Or Metabo, BE1020 Pretty torquey aswell.

Both are slightly slower running than a lot of pistol drills, but the lower gearing gives a lot more torque for the motor size.

my brother had a metabo 110v drill, it was the best drill that i have ever used, one day some cheeky bleeder walked into his unit while he was in the office and ******** off with it.

I forgot to mention, you can still get the Makita d-handle jobbies, 8406 i think is the model.
Not cheap though.

hi luke just a surgestion i have two hilti drills one is a 240 volt sr16 had that now for quite a few years and its bullet proof been used and abused but just keeps out lasting my others my other is a hilti TE 6-A cordless rotary hammer drill 36 volt bought em both when i was self employed but they just keep going and going but hey we all have diferent prefrences

Never used them myself though.

Its designed for drilling metal, so it has no hammer action, incase you wondered

someone told me hilti are changing the way they sell, instead of using agents and distributors they are going to direct selling to the end user.


lexi hilti is hilti, Bosch in made in the far east or much of it, and metabo is made in Germany or at least 95% of it is.
