...it sheared 2 sds shanks,first time had to send it for repair,2 nd time didn’t bother as it was getting expensive,this time it’s sheared off inside the nose,can’t get at it...
Just because every ToolShack in the country sells SDS core drill adaptors does not mean it is a good idea. SDS shanks are 10mm dia. What kind of torque transmission capacity do you think they might have?
Compare and contrast to proper professional grade core drills, where 1/2" BSP is the standard size: this is about 21mm dia. The torque capacity of a shaft goes up by the cube of the diameter so it is no wonder that something with 1/8 of the capacity might give up when the going gets tough.
On the sheared off bit, SDS stuff dismantles fairly easily. Prise off the rubber snout. There is then a C-shaped spring ring holding the pull-back bit in place. Remove the ring. Slide off the pull-back bit over a container or bag. This allows the two balls that retain the bit to drop out. You can then access the broken off part through the holes that the balls fit into.
