I have had for several years a 18v makita set, impact driver, drill and grinder all are faultless a part from the grinder battery life, VERY ok for light off net jobs, grinding drills etc etc cutting odd bolt off or an exhaust etc
but I am VERY impressed with milwakee fuel brushless range with 5 ah batteries nutgun is IMPRESSIVE looking for a large cordless drill (body only) now and a 3/8 drive light gun as the 1/2 is HEAVY.

It was said with tounge in cheek Pdg. I take a similar approach with tools and equip.
My drill doesn't look as clean as yours mind as it bears a good few battle scars but like I say not many days goe by it doesn't get picked up and a battery is recharged. So it's not gonna look mint.

Different league of cordless stuff that though. Wasted on home diy usage. Milwaukee is the best money can buy. My step dad has a load of the fuel range stuff. It's just wow.

I was over in australia a few years ago & was using my son in laws cordless a lot & it was an ozito,I really caned it & it never failed,they're made for & sold exclusively by bunnings diy superstore[ a giant version of b & q only better!!] they're made for them by aeg I believe,I was over there in july & bought myself the 18v brushless drill driver skin only & a 4.o ah li-ion battery & fast charger, the drills guaranteed for 5 yrs diy & the battery 1 yr & for a diy item is good value for money [I'm used to industrial tools at work] bunnings took over homebase recently so you can buy them over here now, looking as the exchange rate I got mine a bit cheaper over there.

If your pocket will handle it go for De-walt.
I have one, bean used hard all it's life and still goes strong. The batteries give a good working life. If they do give up the ghost after markets ones are in a good price range.
If that is to much have a look at Bosch range. One thing I did find as a shortfall was the Bosch chuck will only take 10mm drills.
But my work one does have 13mm chuck.
The Bosch chargers are quick as well.
Aldi and lidils do a average range, but feel feeble.
Go and have a look, go to B&Q there you can have a handle and feel. I have used some drills and drivers made by famous makes and I don't like the way they feel.

Ryobi, one good thing to say.
1 battery fits all.
That's it.
Was using some today, a new one and a old one.
New one was so weak it had issues driving screws into holes.
The old one the chuck was so worn it couldn't grip anything without over murdering the chuck.
Cheep and carp.

I bought a Ryobi some years ago & it was totally useless. I know they are supposed to make good stuff but......
It was a drill with 2 batteries, it was obvious from the weight of the batteries the cases were virtually empty, it was supposed to be 14.2 volts if I recall, but didn't quote a capacity. A couple of holes & that was it, flat, I ended up going into Aldi as I needed a replacement quickly, it was less than a quarter of the price & beat it hands down, I ended up chucking the Ryobi in the bin while the Aldi one did about 4 years before the battery started to go.
I know others rate Ryobi kit, but this was what I found.

Similar experience, have a little cordless from Lidl and to be honest it's been great, far better than the Black and Decker that it replaced and cheap - which appeals to those from Aberdeenshire

i have had makita dewalt hatachi and bosch ryobi over the last 20 years cant say theres much in them as long as you get the
Li-Ion batterys these days that about the only thing i would say i will not buy a battery drill for if they did not have
bosch green i would say is the lowest of the bunch ryobi is good but heavy in the hand apart from that go for any thing you like

I had a dewalt with two batteries I got out of B&Q for £100.
Brilliant drill until one battery wouldn't hold charge (new battery was £40) so I went and got a Makita with two batteries from B&Q for £100.
Much prefer the Dewalt, far better drill. Unfortunately I lent it out (cant remember who) and now its gone.

A good idea I heard of is to take a photo on your phone with the borrower + tool so you can identify them & there's no argument that they've got it. Tell them you'll delete the picture in front of them when it's returned. Hard I know if it's a mate, but good mates return stuff.Much prefer the Dewalt, far better drill. I just bought a milwaukee M12 brushless combi with two 4ah batteries from plumb center, about 50 quid cheaper than the usual discount outlets.
My old makita 14.4v NiMh batteries were on their way out so a good tome to jump. Reason I jumped to milwaukee was cost and the charger.

I have started doing that. Good mates do return stuff but sometimes people just forget. I have forgotten stuff I have borrowed as well which is why I tend to get the stuff back ASAP as my memory isn't great lol
I don't think il see it again.
I think it was possibly stolen when I lent it to my da. He isn't one to lose things or lend stuff he doesn't own to others so really only logical explanation is that someone half inched it when he was up in the city doing a bit of work.

This is what I just bought from Plumb Center, Milwaukee Fuel M12CDD-402C with 2 x 4ah batteries, charger and case for £158.60 inc VAT and carriage, cheapest I found elsewhere is £220 (anglia tool centre and FFX). Its 12v Lion not 18v but it has almost twice the torque of my current 14.4v NiMh Makita so will be good enough. Also bought this small Milwaukee driver (no batteries) for 34 quid from Amazon, it can share the same batteries, I find a full size combi too big for small woodworking jobs etc, if the 4ah battery is a bit bulky for it I will get a 2.0ah for about 22 quid or cheaper if I get a 3rd party battery.
If I had gone Makita, I would have needed a charger for the bigger 12/18v and another for the 10.8v smaller driver and the cost of the comparable drivers is less too. I do like Makita though, we used them in BT and I have been using them ever since. My dad will get my oldest Makita, the other will become a spare.
