Recommend an electric chainsaw please.

General garden use and cutting up logs for the burner. Not too much money though, costs are starting to spiral.

I know it's not the cheapest electric chainsw but my mate used to hire these out from the small tools plant hire side of his business.

They were the only ones worth having on the fleet apparently.

I’ve got a bosh AKE pro model, very good quality and has a slightly higher chainspeed than their standard range. I’d recommend one of those in a flash - I’ve been super impressed, it’s been great for general stuff around the garden, and I’ve cut some fairly hefty logs with it.

I know opinions differ on Electric chainsaws but I really like them for garden type stuff, quiet (er!), light and no smell/fumes though obviously not as portable or quick as petrol.

What you ladies are describing are box openers.

Perhaps you can use one of these for doing your nails.

I have a £49 Titan from Screwfix that has done a lot of hard work over the past three years, with no hint of any problems. It does the job perfectly well, though it is perhaps rather crudely finished when viewed alongside something like a Makita. (Should say that I have never used any other brand of electric chainsaw for comparison).

Got a Draper and cut down loads of large trees, some 18 inches in diameter and cut them to log burner size with no trouble. Chain file is a must and let the saw do the work.

I've killed a few cheapies over the years, and the best by far is the Stihl I've had for 10 yrs now, done a huge amount of work and no problems at all.

Add a cheap as chips Lidle chain sharpener and you're set for life!

I've got a Bosch AKE30S for handling a bit of timber, but I'm upgrading to a petrol chainsaw as one came up at the right price. Picking it up this week!

that's because you as the hirer and are responsible for safe use to whoever u hire to and are expected to know if they have been trained properly . and if they haven't and have an accident you are responsible and will get sued I had a hire business and stopped hiring them for that reason. fred blogs can do what he likes with his own gear and only him to blame for accidents

Don't buy one of the Florabest electric chainsaws from Lidl. A friend of my parents has one & I have had the unfortunate task of repairing it several times. All the breakages are due to the stupid design & poor build quality.

Chainsaw has arrived but can't use it as they don't provide any oil! Same with the Alligator saw that we have...oil every ten minutes and a bottle (empty) is provided. Oh well, got some coming tomorrow.

I think that the best in chainsaw is Stihl, but for general home use i think that it's better something like einhell

My Dad bought a Makita electric chainsaw 25 years ago, i still have it. It is surprisingly powerful & is a very capable tool.

I have a Bosch one [came as a freebie, a bit of a clean up and it looks like it just came out of the box ], it's done anything I've asked of it, although this hasn't been VERY taxing [cutting sleepers etc].

The battery powered Stihl saws are surprisingly good with a reasonable run time on a charge, also a great saw to throw in the truck or machine and no riffy petrol fumes to poke up with.
