Reccomended transporter for harrison lathe

may have secured a harrison lathe for not a lot of moneies, but need to mive from london to northampton, any help much appreciated

just to give you an idea whats achievable..i done a 450 mile round trip to pick my Harrison up with a Nissan Cabstar and it was within legal weight limits

ideal. ibrought my harrison home in my 6x8 trailer with 8 cwt indies on it and mini wheels . the tires were well blown up and it rode well at 70mph but my speedo might be over reading by 20mph the tires were warm after traveling 50 miles but ok . u will have no bother with a plant trailer nice and low and will carry a tonne

Beg rent or borrow an engine crane and some strops to load and unload, it makes life much easier!

I have a crane and straps.
I'm sure the Harriman has holes for some bars to go through and wrap straps round after seeing one of johns (doubleboost) YouTube vids

I used a plant trailer to collect my Cardiff lathe and that is a fair bit bigger and heavier than a Harrison with no issues. Because it's low it's easier to load and unload as well.

Here's a Colchester lathe on a plant trailer, worked a treat. Whatever you do, don't use blue lorry rope during the move or you won't hear the last of it

Like brightspark said , keep it as low as you can, not so much for the travelling as for the loading and unloading. I've seen a couple of milling machines tip over from high trailers during unloading, no reason it can't happen with a lathe, though their centre of gravity is lower usually.
