rear fog lamp got no power....

ok, mitsi l200, 2014 , due for mot so checking all lights only to find rear fog out , so got leads of that supply at rear and reading .8v, checked under bonnet fuse all good , are there any known faulty connections/wiring on these to look for?
and is it legal neccesity to have a rear fog for mot . as in if I remove will it pass... thanks in advance

Check between the power lead and a known good earth (a bit of wire back to the battery negative) will halve the fault finding to which wire and yes you do need a fog light for the MOT, a lot of Jap cars had to have them added for the British market.

thanks, did that , still @ .8v..I was hoping for dodgy earth..

Down to logical fault finding then, start with power to the switch (remembering it won't be there until you have dipped headlights on) then from the switch onwards, if the switch is working OK you could lash a temporary supply to the back to get through the MOT.

Towbar wiring loom issues can cause this issue as can fog lamp relay issues.

Mu mate had the same issue on his L200, as I recall it was a loom plug under the tub.

A lot of the sockets have a cut-off switch for the fog light.
It's mechanical and clogs up with crud.

appreciated , there is a multitude of plugs under rear near side , I will dis connect untill I find correct one ! tried this savo but got thwarted by the first one being stuck and my lamp failing , will have another go .cheers

yes tow bar fitted , and was all working last time I used it about 4 month ago, but suspect somethings going on as during wet weather indicators all work but intermitantly go rapid as if a bulbs out . and nowfog light out , everything light wise otherwise is good .thanks

Yes.
Switch that gets pushed open when you put the plug in. Gets dirty and doesn't spring back into position when you unplug the trailer (so the fog on the car is left disconnected)

As indicated earlier, rear fogs won't work unless you have sidelights and front fogs, or dipped headlights on with modern cars. Probably need ignition on too

yes , did have full ignition on , dipped headlights etc, everything is ok exccept rear fog .thanks

Sometimes you can clean them up.
Normally, by the time they get sticky it's because the rubber seal has failed so the whole thing will be a bit manky.

You can bypass the switch and connect the 2 wires together.
Or, replace the socket (possibly just rhe switch but I've never tried to source one individually)
Or, replace the socket for one without a switch.

On the farm trucks I cut back to clean wire and fit a new socket up on the bottom of the body and fit a deflector plate behind.
Otherwise it's an annual job replacing them.
