It's your own poop, been inside you for several hours, you're not touching it, just wiping it away. Just like wiping your own bum.

Disgusting they can be, but they don't need to be so. Take a look at the Brabantia Classic: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332654321670 Not the cheapest, but they last well.
Once the process of shifting the "remaining business" has been completed, keep the brush in the bottom of the loo. Start the flush, and spin the brush whilst lifting it out of the water during the flush. Keep the brush below the rim during this process, for obvious reasons. It comes up looking surprisingly clean. It's basically acting as a centrifugal pump, taking clean water from the centre and spinning it outwards, into the flush water stream.

If loo is near the shower as in my upstairs bathroom, a simple alternative is a shower head like this
The head twists off, giving a reasonable jet of water what is good for cleaning the loo. The one I linked did not have a great jet so I drilled it out carefully and fit a brass 3mm jet, that is epoxied to the abs housing.
It cleans any mess, very well.
Once at work away from toilets I had to go urgently and there was the choice of a mcDonalds or a pub, and to my mind the latter would be cleaner. About 30 seconds after sitting down, and every 30 seconds after, it did flush, a highly unpleasant experience!
Another time that I had to go somewhere else, it blocked. Usually a blocked loo is resolved by another flush, more water, more pressure, to send it on its way. This raised the level quite high on the rim, but not to the top. Then is the guessing game of how long to wait with the level slowly dropping, before another flush. Too soon, and it will top the rim.
Well it did top the rim and a hasty retreat was made - not my problem if they have drainage issues! It wouldnt have blocked at home...
