Really bad toilet flush...

Check the holes around the rim, where the flush water comes out. The edges of the holes may have slumped during manufacture, so they're too small to produce a decent flow rate.

I was as disappointed as everyone on here when I fitted our eco flush toilet. Next to useless for a proper turnout!

those toilets are like the ones fitted in the fashion models industry no solids all fibre

as goes for the toilet roll that stuff floats for fun nowadays it takes some flushing even on old style toilets with a good flush

Absolutely know what the OP means about poor flushing. When I did my bathroom re-fit 18months ago, we told the sales woman that we wanted a good flushing toilet and my wife went on about a pan that flushes right to the front. The sales woman knew what we meant and recommended this toilet and cistern -

We have had the rath of the low flow toilets, to a point where people were smuggling the old "Hi flow" one's in from Canada.....

They used to test the flush with four apples and a cloth cap, all at once.
Now they test with cat food.

I doubt an apple would even fit through the S bend on this poxy toilet.

To be fair i am impressed with the American toilets, the type where the bowl is half full of water and when you flush the turd burgular goes down in a fast flowing whirlpool.

You used to be able to get syphonic toilets where it sucked the trap out first then washed the pan, me grandad had them and as a 10yr old they were fascinating

Not sure if I should admit it but the other toilet in my house is a syphonic and even worse it's green.

Oh and a top tip for anyone who does have a blocked bog - if you don't have a drain rod plunger use an old fashioned style hairy mop. Works wonders!

A cleaner at the factory I worked at used a 3000psi pressure washer once. The results were spectacular.

That puts it at about the right date, and it's Avocado or you could have dark brown, dark blue or ginger/orange. Welcome to the Seventies.
