Ready to buy fresh air mask. Comment on my choices please?

So, for the mask I was thinking of Devilbiss vizi 601 because it's branded and affordable at £140:

For the filters I was looking at the Metalworks, because it's the cheapest certified filter set. The basic set is £160: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Breathing...om-/121811094625?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368

The metalworks breathing air filters include a carbon filter which is good because there isn't one at the cheap mask.

That's all £390 :/
By the time I add various fittings, extra hoses, and postage it's probably going to be £450... plus the time and valves and bits to mount the filters to my wall.

Does the spray gun connect to the waist belt? If so how do I separately regulate the pressure at the gun and mask? I have one of these mini regulators but not sure which way round it goes, neither direction seems to work well! Click the images for bigger ones.





My air dryer is wired up with valves so I can bypass it when it's not needed to save desiccant. I was thinking of doing the same with the breathing air filters because replacement filters are expensive.

Could you not add an additional part to your fixed airline after any existing couplings and only plug into that when painting so as to not have air flowing through it all the time and possibly use higher flow couplings only for your paint equipment

So I've ordered the gear. Big expense, buts still cheaper than getting my car professionally sprayed.

I went for the Honeywell MV2 mask in the end because it's sold as a serious mask, whereas the Devilbiss VIZI is sold as an entry level mask, and there's no price difference. Apparently the Honeywell mask is also sold by Devilbiss as well but at much higher price.

I paid more though because I got a pre-filter as well, and the extra carbon filter, even though there's a carbon filter in the mask, Honeywell won't certify it to be used alone, and won't say why. I'm sure the built in carbon filter is plenty but decided not to risk it.

Good choice tidy bit of kit, don't forgot to buy visor covers/peel offs, I tend to use a lot of them, you can fit a few of these onto the visor too so easy to see again

And Devilbiss re-badge the Metalwork filters and the Metalwork ones are cheaper.

A few years ago I was doing quite a bit of aluminum welding during the winter months wearing an air feed half mask under my welding mask. After a couple of hours welding my face really felt cold and uncomfortable so I added a heater.

When does a mask need to be worn during welding? Is it when welding aluminium?

Yes mig welding aluminium produces quite a lot of fumes and I don't like wearing negative pressure masks for long periods.
