Readout system for small milling machine fitted

I got some scales with remote readout screens from arc euro trade and fitted them to my small Astra mill.
Seems quite a useful addition but not used much yet apart from a trial.

Iobviously still have vaseline on the camera from my extensive French art film experience.
I had to do quite a lot of work to fit these readouts because the mill's surfaces are mostly not flat or line up. I used some ali box section and some other scrap bits .

I use these scales on both my mill and lathe, I run them through a touchdro Bluetooth system to an Android tablet. I like it.

I had similar issues fitting the DRO scales to my Perrin - no two surfaces flat, parallel or clear of obstructions.
What I have found with time is that the leadout wires have hardened and then cracked, I assume with coolant and/or sunlight.
Also I periodically get the readout displaying random gibberish even when there's been no coolant around for months, I assume it's condensation getting into the scales.

Use epoxy bedding compound to build up a flat surface, you can clamp a piece of flat ali box section with release compound against it and clock it in. Leave to cure, remove box section and then you have a nice flat surface to support your scale.
