Reach and wash type window cleaning

I do my own windows because the window cleaners wont wash the wooden frames that get real dusty . they get spiders cobwebs on them also. some of them employ scrotes and your house gets robbed and they seem to know where to look

I'm looking too as I need to clean conservatory roof too, looking about 200?

As to water marks, unless you have very hard water it shouldn't be a real issue unless you insist on perfect finish... which usually lasts abo5an hour before it rains, gets dusty or a bird ****s on it

I use soapy water with the window sweeping brush of a ladder. hose them down wipe round with a cloth to get water of frames and use one of them handles with a rubber blade or u can use a carcher window vac

Properly washed windows from a reach and wash with proper water do actually stay cleaner longer.

Soap always leaves residue behind which does trap dirt


@brightspark i know a handful of abseilers that got into it with the hope to rob office blocks. Fortunately it pays well enough that they dont.

Though one of the numpties did lock us out as he left the key in the office after going to the toilet. So 10 storys up i i swung 12ft onto a window ledge and climbed in.

Just find a window cleaner. 15 quid once a month to do all the front windows

I refused several local window cleaners offers at our old house, thought it would be easier to do them myself, save a couple quid. I did do them, eventually, when we were trying to sell the place.

Three years grime took some scrubbing off........

I genuinely didn’t know this window cleaning malarkey was so complicated and required “technical” water

The chap that comes round at home has a manky bucket, a squeege and well worn leather, probably why he’s cheap

My dad paid £800 to get his conservatory cleaned. He blethered on with stories about how they would have a team of guys, and scaffolding etc etc...to justify him being such a soft touch as he hasn't got the cajones to haggle or say no.

One guy showed up, did it in three hours, then left.

Supposedly a three year warranty? How does that work???

I could have done it for him for free, but he has always been such a self righteous know it all, who brags about his wealth, I don't offer anything any more.

When you have one of those windscreen wiper type gadgets that scrape the water right off, I don't think it matters what type of water you use.

Our water was so hard it left rings on glass that you could literally feel with your finger nail. Hose dust off the car, without chammying, and it looked like it had measles an hour later.

Still a good method, certainly more skilled especially the quick guys washing up liquid choice makes all the difference lemon Tesco brand is the rolls royce.

We had a guy on one job who was nearly always half a drop a head leaving spotless Windows.

This wasn't stolen from Google. Im on the right in my shooting jacket, countryside folk scare Londoners i think


When we are a man short one person can manage that corner but its a full workout.

Don't use these brush systems on leaded windows. The brushes mess up the "cement" between the lead and the glass.
Had someone use this on windows at home....they now leak.

And rot the woodwork.
A lot of my repairs on timber windows are due to this and people not cleaning condensation off regularly also rots them from the Inside

Yes certainly my couldn’t make a living out of it any more. I used to work for CAN. They work on some awesome projects. Best one (shortly before I joined them) was the lock n stitch repairing of Hammersmith bridge above the Thames.

The firm's make crazy money, dope on the rope gets nothing.

I was lucky in that i found a fella who is known for his rigging so gets awkward jobs. We work well together as tree work was always difficult rigging

Though money has dropped out of it big time

The Mrs might wonder what i was up to if she saw me dangling off the roof on a rope to clean the windows. Probably safer to get the ladder out.
Didn't know reach and wash used purified water. Don't fancy paying someone to stare through my windows on a regular basis.

'When i'm cleaning windows' I use some of Yorkshire's finest tap water with some fairy liquid or whatever it is. I have one of those long fluffy things on a handle and a squeegeeeee and it does a great job of not leaving streaks. A chamois round the frame and the jobs a good one.

Sounds like the best thing is to just find a long adjustable pole and carry on doing what i'm doing. Squeegee'ing might not be as accurate from such a distance though.

that's 800 quid less u will be getting in the will when he popps his cloggsunless he leaves it all to the cats home I actually know someone who did that. before he died the rellies all came round to see him and couldn't do enough for him then he pegged and no one got anything

For pole work consider moerman squegee with zero detail ends they are a game changer
