The time has come to look at changing the roofing felt on the house. Fairly simple straight roof with Marley tiles.
It has been lined with plasterboard and expanded poly batts so as to make a nice, cosy loft space for the previous owners to place their train set in. This means there is no easy way to look at the felt from inside. 1970s build. If I'm going to scaffold and strip the roof I'd like to plan ahead and think about what to also do at the same time.
If I wanted to put solar panels on top at some point in the future, is there anything worth doing now that would save time later? Brackets and suchlike? What about adding a Velux or similar so as to let in light and create a top-side access? Legal issues? Insulation-wise, are there any rules that have crept in that might be an issue? Lastly, what about the ridge vents and any copper to stop Moss build-up?
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
