I think i'll try some new crimps, seems the cheapest option to start with, then extend the handles if need be
Had a set of these for a few years. Do the job well.

ok for home use but i use decent branded ones for use at work along with quality branded make crimps . no craplive got these too. Can’t complain for my home bodgery
I did as you suggested on the bench, but working on the car it's a 2 handed job and hold the wire in place ...err 3 handed job !
Like @Wallace Looking at the results, I would say the yellow is over crimped..
I've loosened off to max and still need 2 hands to crimp it, i think the crimps have age hardened !alternatively - never tried it, but if you back off the tension off the crimper first, (adjustment wheel on the crimper) get it crimped lightly to hold all in place, then recrimp with more force.. would that help.
if your on about the actual crimps themselves and not the tool there hard copper . cheapo ones are as soft as sh...it and fail miserablyI've loosened off to max and still need 2 hands to crimp it, i think the crimps have age hardened !
branded names and not screwfix or toolstation specials having used them for 50 years i know when there good or crap . the crap ones crimp easy and you can pull the cables out if u give them a good tug il send you a few of each and you will soon see the differenceMaybe i should start a new topic on " who sells the best crimps''
