Rat catching in a house.

I used it outside under the decking 18 months ago and it worked well.
But I have 16 of these blocks in various places round the house and not one has been moved. Or eaten as far as I can see.

Works for us.
Maybe you have hard-core rats.
As opposed to the soft country ones?

good and effective but they have a habit of dying behind inaccessible things to cause a different problem

Yeah, rats are horrible, we had rats here, we've mice now, I prefer.

Borrow some terriers from someone, they’ll be onto the rats in no time

We have a collie but his backlegs are going and he can't move so quick.

Glue traps are the best if your not worried about humane dispatch.

find the route and place a few on the run. Bit of food and away you go

I’ve used them in the barn and outside store, they work every time

just don’t touch them as the glue is very strong

We used to use them in the Far East, A4 size sheet, put a piece of meat in the middle.... and by next day the little bar steward would be well and truly adhered to the sheet of doom. A bonk on the head with a beer bottle, and in the bin.

I used to catch them live and wind the dog up with them she was a Bedlington whippet lurcher quarter terrier and 3 quarters whippet absolute mustard with anything that moved watched her chase a fox one day through a hedge. she caught it up bit its ass as it went through

had\have rats in the big WS they use the trunking as motorways & eat the insulation as a starter we had to remove covers that stopped them feasting then the blocks seemed to get rid of them for 12 months the new itinerants eat the blocks with impunity it seems

rats often follow mice urine trails ,,, looking for the mouse nest to raid ,,, so at the first sign of mice you have to get trapping , I catch a dozen or so in my house most years ,,, except for the year I found a nearly dead ferret at the door , and nursed it back to health before giving it away to a new home ,,, boys those things smell ,, but , no mice that year.
Could you borrow a cat ??

we have had cats for 38 years but when I last one went last year we decided enough was enough in case anything happened to use. we used to have loads of rats but they were alawys dead...lol

Talking of mice..mice are abundant around my gaff and upto a year ago the wife's cat had them knocked off one a day...Then she started to give the moggy cat treats along with its normal food and the lazy little minger wont catch them now..she has spoilt it the silly woman.

Ah, I read it as a spring trap( big mouse trap)

That type I would still cover over and make it dark. New smell shouldn’t be an issue as he’s in the house and used to different and new smells.

Fenns are good but have to be set right, set in a tunnel with no room for the intended to prey to jump up

The mouse traps I got the other month said to position them facing a wall, for much the same reason I imagine.

Mice and rats will scuttle along where the wall meets a floor hence why traps should be set pointing towards the wall

the rats used to just come through a hole in the wall in brothers workshop so set the fen trap without food and they just walked over it . goodnite Vienna

Hello, if you get the cage type like the very first picture, make sure the ends of the bar that drops down when activated are facing away from the cage.
I caught a rat in mine, went to pick up the cage, it bolted out the door. The locking bar hadn't fallen all the way down, the curved ends had hit the cage.
I always tie a piece of string on the handle, then you're no where near the rat as you carry it to the water butt for swimming lessons.

I have the sonic devices that seem to work good. Alberta is supposedly rat free but we do have mice.

dunno if u know its illegal to drown rats. ive only ever done it once and it isn't nice I felt quite sick watching it takes ages to die .I just shoot them in the trap and that's a fast death
