One of the problems is that schools seem to think IT means being able to use MS office. The "best" school in our area stopped teaching A level electronics two years ago because its quite hard, so not enough students got grade A and it was bad for their league tables! I still don't see it as a leftist problem though, its a general problem with governments asking schools to do ridiculous things then judging them accordingly. My son could have done without the religion bit too, but they made up for it in other ways. Its gone now of course, closed by lord bloody adonis and missed by many small businesses, who got many apprentices there. Still, its not as if manufacturing was important, is it? Head. Wall. Bang.
