And now back to the scheduled program.
Its a great thread, seeing your ever growing collection of toys , your continuing enthusiasm and resourcefulness. It’s gone a bit off topic I agree! Was meant ti be about a crawler but ni it’s anything that happens to grace my shed. Still, I think it’s fun. Looking forward to getting the cropper working.
On a through-hole with broken tap, I've had success with an oxy-ace torch, heating it up to burn temp then let rip with the oxy. It burned the tap away entirely, leaving the threads clear enough to take a fresh clean-up tap.Someone I used to work with (and who doesn’t like me) snapped an easy out causing six hours of headache today, so I was extra conscious that I should get this right, just for my own ego!
That’s exactly what I did save the point at which it began to melt, I pulled back, but doused the broken bit in oil which quickly thinned out. Warmed the top, too, to encourage oil penetration! On a through-hole with broken tap, I've had success with an oxy-ace torch, heating it up to burn temp then let rip with the oxy. I managed to save a very expensive print roller with that, after their guy broke it.
Yeah, usually it means there’s something wrong with it that they can’t fix! In this case, the head is seized to the column. I think I could have a go at removing it.Free!
Bargain.
