The women has got back in touch and has asked me if i can give her a cost she hasn't heard back from the other boy. She has said he wants something quite light so she can lift it out the way. she has said about regulations so isn't wanting a fixed one. she has said itl need to be about 6ft long. she has said the first step is 6inch then the second (which i think is into door) is 3inch.
With her wanting it light and quite portable i have thought about making it from about 20 or 25mm box section and make it as two halfs which just connect together. I also though instead of plate on top a wire mesh style.
going to try draw some plans up and have a look around net. so any help would be great.

My local church had a toilet installed in the bit where the bell ropes hang. (technical term)
They then realized that one of the parishioners, a dear old lady, was wheelchair bound, hence the ramp.
Maybe it's the "highway to heaven".
Just a simple cut & fold design from ally tread plate.

The grit impregnated GRP waffle board that offroaders use would make a grand ice resistant ramp surface and it's light and strong. It's also used by structural/access engineers for elevated catwalks etc. instead of treadplate or steel grating. If it really has to be easily portable the waffle board attached to an aluminium frame would be very lightweight, although attractive to tealeafs. Available here and here but there are loads of others online.
Also Northern Tool do a variety of portable loading ramps; they may not suit but may be adapted easier/cheaper than building from scratch.
