ive one in gortex and its great ,, but i wouldnt want to wear it all day , it also leaks a bit at the seams after an hour or two ,,, but its a handy thing to have , I used it over a dive undersuit when working off shore diving ,,, that and a pair of cut down purofit dunlops the orange ones with the thick blue sole was you set up for a days work ,,, i will check the brand but it was only about 75 quid ,,, boots were 50 thn too all from the fishermans co-op

we use the dickies wp15000 waterproof coveralls for rally servicing. expensive, but you can often get them on ebay cheaper.

If your getting into a vehicle you take the waterproofs off, surely

I wear salopettes top coat comes low enough to keep my rear dry. so all I need to do is take the coat off and I can get I'm and drive.

Must admit, the last Land Rover I was in you needed the waterproofs on. It was a manky old bus.

I got cheep gortex on ebay , army surples, the navy , RAF and also german army use block colours so you don't have to look like an extra from a survival show all the time

gortex can be fragile to pin prick punctures (and welding) but is so much less sweaty than non breathable outer layers. Also the seams have to be taped and it can fall off with heavy use and washing but you can get glue for it.
