now the plot thickens, clear coat ? you said you used celly, what exactly did you use paint wiseI don't think it's that because:
1. I flatted the primer or clear coat back with 400 grit before painting.
2. I've painted over grey primer, and clearcoat and the effect's appeared on both.
3. It's definitely multi-coloured (like a rainbow, or an oil slick)
Anyone with experience of blooming on celly think this looks like blooming or something else?
I'm fairly sure it's appeared on areas I've not polished, which suggests it's not anything in the polish causing it.
No, rain shouldn't leave marks in the paintTook this photo just now showing the water marks (light blue) in the paint after it rained last night. I painted this panel last September. Is this normal?View attachment 88460
Would you expect paint that's been on the car for the best part of a year to do this?
iits no longer popular with garages etc so i expect theres not many brands to choose from anymore so you have to take what you can get
its a myth, its not banned, its readily available to buy and useIt's not popular because it's banned from commercial use because of the volatile organic compound content not because garages don't like it.
unlike most things I cant find and legislation online covering this, I dot think they could police it anywayI didn't say the paint is banned, it's use is banned in some commercial circumstances. You can buy it on eBay but our local supplier will not sell it now as the legislation is too complicated and they cannot know what you are going to use it for. This is from one eBay supplier.
Firstly despite many rumours flying around Cellulose is still available and is not illegal to use. The product can now only be used on certain applications, they include :
Industrial Use
Resoration of Classic & Vintage Vehicles
Aerosols
It is against the law for us to supply and for you to use Cellulose on modern vehicles or any other use that falls outside the 3 applications listed above.
