Railings

Hi lve made loads of gates but no railings.
lm making a set that is over 6 meter long so lm making 3 panels 2 meter long,so how do l put them up,do l put the posts in to set then weld the panels in or make the panels with the posts on them and set them into the ground or lay it all out on the road and weld it all as one and lift into place?

There are many options, my most common was:
Put the posts in first and the posts have 2 drilled lugs either side that matched lugs on the rail panels, then bolt them.

If you make the holes in the lugs slightly elongated it allows for a little bit of fitment error.

For a 2 metre panel I would also have a central support under the panel, rawlbolted to the brickwork

Either. It just depends on the site and how you design them to be fitted.

Use your brain to figure out the best method depending on the circumstances - transit limitations, surface treatment size limits, type of ground on site, manpower available, your experience, available budget & time, future ease of repair / replacement, etc etc

Try to design flexibility into your methods so that you can account for errors in measuring the site when you come to fit it. Measure as accurately as you can, preferably using several methods to confirm key dimensions. Check levels carefully - nothing real is ever truly flat or square in my experience, no matter how posh the property is.

Yes - be aware that metal structures of that size are very flexible, which makes it harder to shift and harder to fit, and will give a crap result unless you account for it.

second vote for elongating holes, a few mm out when installing them could drive you mad and take ages to fix.
A mate of mine did his first installation a few years back and had to chop the railings up in the street and weld them back together while pretending thta this is normal.
We did not laugh at him. Honest.

I make my railing up in the workshop. One solid panel followed by an infil panel which bolts onto the next solid panel, Makes like easier when you can clamp them upright and work with the angles and getting the handrails right.
