Railing in stainless - some inputs from the pro's?

Hi guys, I need to install a railing in 2 weeks. It will be stainless and has some complex curves (not shown in this post). I have some queries about building regs and how to approach it all. Would appreciate any inputs from those who know.

It is basically a horizontal short run (about 1 m), then a 90 degree turn and down the side of an outdoor staircase.

At the top, there is a step running along the side of the building. Would the minimum rail height apply to the top of this 'step', or just the 'general ground level'? How would this normally be tackled - a very high railing of constant height, or one which changes height half way?

Secondly, at the bottom end, the brick pillar at the bottom of the steps is actually on the second step up, the last step has no adjacent wall. Do I need to run the railing right to the end of the steps, or just terminate it at the brick pillar (hopefully the diagram shows what I mean!).

If it must go to the end, I'll do a curve like the one shown. Would this also need fillers with a max 100mm spacing?

Somewhere I saved the pdf building regs for these, can't find them now! Any pointers to them???

Ok, additionally additionally... In the left hand pic (for example) there is a flagstone / paving slab on the left on top of the brick pillar. Surely the handrail doesn't need to be 1100mm above THAT??? It'll look like Broadmoor?!?

Difficult one that.... have you any photos of it Al?

Strictly speaking, your height should be from the landing, if there is a small dwarf wall round it, thats when it gets complicated. If its a house, you should be able to get away with 900mm from the landing. Personaly, i find thats always seems a bit low.
Some BCOs will allow the wall to be counted, some will not allow, and insist that the 1100mm is from the top of the wall. Rediculous imo. I did a job where the railings needed to be 1300 odd above the floor level to keep the bco happy recently

The handrail extending to the final step, dont worry about it. Unless you envisage it being rented out by disabled people, you dont need one by the bottom two steps. (K 1.27)
