Railhead welding

Whats the best way of welding railheads on?? Plan to have 16mm round bar so wondering whether you:

A - weld the railheads to that then those to the 2 horizontal flats

B - put the bar halfway through the top horizontal, weld that underneath then put the railhead in the top half and weld it

C - other??

Depends on the rail head type really....got a pic of the ones you plan on using?

If it's got a 16mm shaft, option B..

If it's got a larger bottom to it, weld it to the round bar first...

Seen a few times the straight panel made up and rail heads stuck on top of the flat, but looks hideous if it's the wrong sort.

I normally make up a jig to hold the round bar and the railhead in position while I weld it. Then poke the bar through the holes in the horizontal flat bars and then weld the lower ones from underneath, and anything above eye level I weld from above.

The galv and powder coat will fill in the little voids on the unwelded side, and leaves a nice neat and tidy finish and nobody gets to laugh at my ugly welding!
