Right i've done it. ordered an R-tech 201 AC/DC. Decided that its not actually such a bad thing that i will want to upgrade to a Kemppi or similar in the future. for the time being i think having the Pot's to control all the parameters will probably make me actually learn alot more about all the settings as i can alter them very quickly and see the influence they have on the arc/weld. like i say i probably will want to upgrade in a couple years depending on what happens with my personal circumstances/work but this will get me learning now. i couldn't afford a Kemppi right away and would have had to save for a while longer and even then it would have meant i would have to put off buying other things i need. saying that, if i didnt think it made sense to do what i've done i would of hang on untill a Kemppi was affordable. Got a shop soiled 200A machine with free foot pedal, 30amp plasma cutter (again shop soiled) a 1kg pack of :4mm mild steel rods, 2.4mm mild steel and 2.4mm ally rods all for £1258 delivered which i can't knock really. i expect that in 2 years or whatever if i want to upgrade i will still get a large chunk of the tig cost back as they seem to hold there money well!
Cheers for all the advice guys, looking forward to getting started monday
