Toying with the idea of adding one of these to the man cave, both are similar in price, the r-tech offers interest free credit and a free consumables pack worth £95, there both within reach, just wondered what you lads and lasses think?
I was hoping that this thread might generate a few responses as I've been starting to read up on plasma cutters with a view to getting one eventually. It's these two machines (or at least 40amp versions) that seem to be touted as the better of the budget machines out there but there are few reviews / opinions out there especially for the IFL.
I'm guessing being budget machines you are unlikely to find someone who will have used both machines and would be able to give a informed comparison - though that might not count for much as it seems the main over riding concern with these cutters is reliability rather than performance and AFAIK neither have been around for long enough to decide if one last longer then the other?
Its also a case of the back up you get,i'd say with both they're the best out there IMO,also dont forget theres a compressor to think about, and my little tip would be knock up a simple cutting surface or table like the cnc ones but without the gizmos etc, plasma cutting eats workbenches and toes
Went through this process last month. Finally went for the PlasmaPart cut40, because it was 40 amps, looked a good torch, each machine is individually tested, two year warranty, included postage which made it a competitive price, and they threw in a pack of consumables after some haggling.
It seems to work very well, though I have nothing to compare it to, and it only gets very light use so far. I am also very much a beginner in welding, cutting, etc, so may have made the wrong choice altogether.
