Hi all I am new here and this is my first post. Anyways thought I would start a thread about R - Techs 3 in 1 power mts 210D. First off I want to make it clear that I do not work for or have any affiliation with nor have I had an affiliation with R - Tech, other than being a customer, a happy one at that. With two years warranty and extendable by another two years for not much money how could I not be?
Anyways I brought this welder to expand the range of welding services I can offer whilst my Cebora was brokenn and being repaired, I had just started doing work for a local company and could not go without a welder so I spent the ££££'s and got the 3 in 1.
First impressions of R -Tech were great and they welcomed me when I asked to try before I buy.
Now these new digital 'synergic' welders do take some getting used to especially if you are used to traditional transformer machines - I found myself instinctively adjusting the power control nob and the wire speed nob trying to get a setting I was happy with...this did not work very well at all and if I am honest it got on my wick no end as I am at home on old skool machines and never normally have a problem getting them to work. Who'd of thought that turning down the wire speed also reduced the amps??? In the end because of my inability to realize what was going wrong I ended up cheating and finding a review on you tube in order to find a setting that would at least work. Now I have had this machine for around 9 months and use it allot I really have gotten to grips with it, and as soon as I got around my teething troubles with it I have been able to produce nice consistent welds time after time. The welds are very smooth and the sound it makes is unlike any other machine I have ever used, I guess this is down to it being an inverter machine... Anyways any comments or questions are welcomed and I would recommend R-Tech and this welder as a reliable workhorse capable of doing anything you ask. Ps I am not in anyway shape or form a tig welder but this machine is capable as the demonstration from r-tech proved. Also I have begun learning how to arc weld (using Siftrode 6013 2.5mm) and am getting better. A fellow welder freind of mine who can arc weld used mine to try it out and was so impressed with the way all functions worked that he went and brought himself the mts 250d machine and a plasma cutter. Honestly these machine pump out the power with such gusto and they just keep giving all day long, I only keep my more expensive when new Cebora Apollo 215 as a back up now and in fact since it was repaired except for checking that it was definitely working I have not used it because the MTS210D really does do everything. I have even found that mig welding ali is a breeze ( all be it a slightly toxic one).
