Hi Folks,
I have an R-Tech 161 AC/DC Tig which I bought second hand, I think it’s 6 or 7 years old. It’s the old type with the permanent cooling fan. Haven’t had many problems with it other than a dodgy pedal which was sorted by changing the pot (but mostly work on the button anyway).
Just set up a job, dialled in the settings on some scrap, ready to go and...amps stuck on 11. (Test setup wanted 55.) No change turning up the amps on the knob. Switched off/on a few times, no good. I think it might be stuck on the down-slope. Just before this happened I had forgotten to connect the earth to the piece I was working on, which was insulated from the bench it’s usually clamped to.
Anyone had this and know if it’s an easy fix? It’s a pain to get it back to R-Tech so I’d prefer to fix it myself if I can.
What a pain, going to have to MIG it now :-(
