quickest way to deflate tyres

without damaging the tyre or the rim?

i will be receiving 34! yes 34 wheels with tyres tomorrow, holding them for a mate who bought them but is on holiday and he has asked me to deflate them all for him. i think he only wants the tyres off them but plans on selling the wheels afterwards (he drifts in his spare time)

im thinking of ripping the valves out with pliers as he already has valves in the wheels he is using and its easy enough for a tyre fitter to replace them. do they just pull out is it a bad idea considering the pressure invovled (average 32 psi)

ive slashed a few scrap tyres before and they arent very impressive when they go off which makes me think the valves should be ok to pull?

Take the valve cores out with a valve key.

Unscrew the valve core would probably be the easiest, surely.

Quite convenient he goes on holiday when these tyres are due,BB do ya not think he's thinks your a good mate.

valve screwing tool it is then. sure they sell them in the local poundshop and as its a one time thing i dont mind a crap tool for it.

and yes it is rather convenient...he reckons he thought the auction ended friday when he gets home but in actual fact it ended yesterday and the guy wants them gone quick so a courier has been arranged to bring them to me...i already have a garden full of tyres and gas bottles...not sure the mrs is going to be too happy!

i didnt ask. i think he might have to wedge them together to get them shifted so wants to optimise his space by being able to compress the tyres a bit. i generally dont ask when he asks me to do things like this, he has a tendancy to over explain his reasoning. i owed him a favour after he sorted out recovery of the alfa when it died

I've got on stuck on an old screwdriver, works the same as the ebay linked type

Maybe if you get a screwdriver type you could bung it in a cordless drill.

Just had another thought,BB...do have one of those different torx bit sets? there's a torx bit in them that might do the job if it will fit in the valve.

if you mean the flat blade bit with a gap in the middle, it wont fit

i cant realy get excited about using a valve removal tool it takes 17 posts for a simple operation
