a linisher = belt sanderI make steel picture frames from steel angle and finish them with a blast over with my 1300 watt angle grinder with a flap wheel fitted.
is there a quicker way to bring mild steel angle to an industrial grinded finish?
An actual grinding disc will move the welder quicker than a flap disc, (unless it’s fairly new flap disc each time) and be more precise, then you can hit it with the flap wheel after to get the smooth finish.I make steel picture frames from steel angle and finish them with a blast over with my 1300 watt angle grinder with a flap wheel fitted.

Ceramic flap disc? Not seen one of those before, how spendy are they? Do they last a long time?A 40 grit ceramic flap disc is a good option. Will remove stock about 10% faster than zirconia grit and should last about twice as long. Similar stock removal speed to a grinding disc with a far superior finish and less hand-arm vibration.
I have been using Wurth ones for years and I get 3 or 4 times as long compared to zirconia. They cut right down to the end with only a wee bit of degradation of speed as you use it up. Last time I bought I was just shy of £100 for 30.Ceramic flap disc? Not seen one of those before, how spendy are they? Do they last a long time?
2hp motor, 36 grit beltthat's quick!
I tried with a normal hand held belt sander in a vice. It was just a normal belt I had at hand...I suppose for wood really..So for grinding metal what would I need?

The longest time is spent grinding the joints...maybe my welding is not that good! They are normally 7mm x 7mm and I grind them flat. I did try to make them smaller but they did not penetrate enough on lower settings
