Quick tree question

Ex neighbour asking me for advice on cutting down tree in his new to him house, tree 35/40 foot tall and approx 8 feet from the house itself and the roots lifting the lawn, I did say to him when he moved in that the tree will have to go.
Anyway tree surgeon coming tomorrow and he says no permission needed, but the guys mum is panicking and he is trying to stop her worrying!

get it cut quick or they might stick a tpo on it if a neighbor gets wind of it and grasses

Need to check if tpo on already otherwise crack on. If there is it should have shown up on searches I would think?.

Cutting it down may cause "heave" anyway. The roots will swell up when there's nowhere for all that water to go.

TPOs. when we were looking for planning, we had 8 that had to be cut by the tree people, I would of happily cut them down and planted anything other than Ash.

TPO`s can sometimes be checked on line, other times you need to write in for confirmation. It is possible to phone in and ask if there are any restrictions at an address, worth recording calls like this. Only other fly in the ointment can be a conservation area where blanket restrictions apply. Depending on soil conditions heave may cause problems, that said nothing compared to a 40` tree growing next to a property.

cut it on a sunday morning and pay overtime ,,, no one can get it stopped , by ten its on the ground ,,,
say sorry on monday if anyone complains plant a sapling ,,, then spray it with weedkiller in a month or two ,,, jobs done and everyones happy. If you cant touch the top of a tree its just a problem developing nd getting more expensive every day

i dry sand blasted my whole house on a weekend no one to complain to not that anyone did . a week later got a card asking me to get in touch with the councill re sandblasting rang them up and they wanted to know who blasted the house . er i did why . they wanted a listed building blasted that someone had whitewashed a wall . i said sorry cant do it and they left it at that but said i had made a nice job of it
