Quick question for the technical bods.

Don't know if it's still about, but when the Japanese introduced there numbereing system there was a publication called Towers International Transistor Selector (T.I.T.S) that gave equivalents to more readily (UK) available components.

Well, got my transistors this morning and replaced them. I know have a working welder. The only issue now seems to be the speed control is not how it once was. I'm getting 27v on 1 and 32v on 20. By adjusting the 10k pot trimmer I can get it down as low as 15v BUT the pot then seems to work backwards where 1 is 20v and 20 is 15v????
Any ideas?

Not too concerned though now I have my porta but it would be nice to get it spot on.

This unit has now been sold. Collected this evening. One happy chappy with an old Skool bit of kit instead of the cheap Chinese stuff which can't be repaired on the cheap. (His words not mine).

Thanks for the advice chaps. Mike in particular was bang on regarding the transistors and a cheap repair too really!

1 x contactor £13
1 x bxd18 Trans £4
1 x 2n2219 Trans £3
1 x 555 chip and socket (£2 odds for 4!!!!)
My own labour.

Cheap enough really and 2 of those bits weren't damaged.
