Hi.
I am probably a typical member on here. Early 40's, kids getting older, Mrs getting uglier. Stopped going to the pub to get slaughtered with my mates a long time ago and now through boredom, I have decided I can restore an old classic car, in my garage with minimal tools and now finding out...it's not as easy as Ed makes it look !!!!.....Sound familiar ?
Anyway. I do have a reasonably decent size double garage (with an extension) and some reasonable tools (if I don't have it, i buy it ! type of tools).
I bought myself a couple of 1970's BMW a couple of years ago, with the intention of doing a 'simple' and 'quick' restoration on them. But as with most of these things, the project now has a life of it's own and the one I started on, is/was, so full of rot, it has turned into a complete strip down and full on body restoration.
As usual, I have gone steaming in with the welder and a 'learn as I go' attitude and now I am starting to think, my welds aren't so great and I want them to be much better....so here I am.
I will definitely be asking LOTS of 'silly' questions (if there is such a thing) and will be seeking advice from you guys who know far better than me.
I am not in the car trade at all. I work as an engineer, but more electrical than mechanical.
Anyway, here is a picture of the project in it's current state. Looking forward to all your help !! Oh, and she isn't really ugly !! I love her to bits.
If your in North Wales area and fancy a challenge, get in touch. The challenge would be teaching me to weld properly !! I make a decent coffee and even don't mind paying for services rendered, if I have to ;-)
