Hi, When I did the groundwork’s for my workshop I had buried a SWA cable when I had the excavator, this cable is 10mm and is just under 20 metres long.
I‘m now seriously regretting that I didn’t go for 16mm, I have an electrician coming out to quote for connecting everything up, he told me in the phone that the most I can get from 10mm SWA is around 40 amps.
Well that surprised me as that’s less than the 6mm singles I’m currently pulling through conduit to go to the 32 amp socket and from the tables I found online I presumed that the cable I had combined with its length was good for more than that.
I’m hoping he miss-heard me and though I’d said 6mm
Any electricians reading this, can you confirm that around 40 amps is correct?
Thanks
