Question for the owners of ebay chineese plasma cutter

I bought a ebay £140 plasma cutter Ill only use it once in a blue moon but just a question about the operation of it.

If you hit the switch and bring the touch to the work say 2/3 seconds max no spark even with scratching the tip on the work will only spark up if touching the work peace before pressing the switch.

Is that normal ?

not sure iv explained that too good but we will see :doh:

Yes it's a contact torch, if you press the button before its made contact it won't work.
Just push the torch onto the metal, press the button and then lift the torch slightly off the work if required.

Mine will spark when 4-5mm away from the work.

You could maybe try fiddling with the contacts on the high voltage board - will see if I can dig up a picture.

Edit: Found a picture

The gap should be 3-4mm between the contacts

It'll be same as mine, its a drag tip, you can cut with the tip resting on the workpiece which I find useful and why I did not want a pilot arc setup.
As Wendel says, you can lift the tip off once the arc is established, maybe 3mm or so, this is handy when gouging out a weld (so I'm told-all my welds are perfect and in the right place every time so I have never done the gouging bit)

Arc ignites on mine when I touch workpiece then operate switch, this is a cut 40. Yours sounds fine and I wouldn't fiddle with it

Took the cover of and the points on mine are different to yours with a gap of 0.025"/0.64mm
Not messed with the gap anybody else have this points type and whats the gap on yours ??

Interesting. The PCB does seem very similar to mine, but the components involved in the gap are very different.

Not sure that I know enough to offer you any more advice - sorry.

Anyone else?

what model is this ? as i have a cut50 in blue case.

looking at pic this pcb is at bottom of machine ?

It was on off ebay (291404549211) £148 delivered from hamburg Germany and the delivery was very quick did the deed on sat and it was on the door step on the wens.
Yes the board is bottom at the front possable an up date design ?

i have this model on the cut 50 yellow plasma cutter and it does work fine at moment if you want i can get some pics of mine if you want

the board is at bottom left at rear of the machine
