Question for Series / Defender Land Rover owners about centre front seat

Could anyone with a Series or Defender Land Rover please do me a favour and measure width of the centre front seat next time they are in their vehicle ?
I need very narrow seats for my Marlin Roadster and can't find anything suitable so wonder if the LR items might fit (I'd source used frames and then buy new foam / cover) .

The centre seat was only a squab with a separate back, they never had runners.

From what I remember Marlin did their own fibreglass shells.. there wasn't anything commercially available at the time as they were really narrow..
I ended up buying a JZR

I have a 90 3 seater and as bob says, there's no runners or adjustability on the middle seat which is narrower than the outer ones which have runners as if it was adjusted forwards it would foul the diff lever. It just has fixed rods sticking out the sides of the metal pan that drop into fixed clips on the seat box tunnel. Its also child sized almost, 3 people in a 90 you have to know the person in the middle seat really really well...
I can measure one up if you still think its useful.
Have you also tried asking in marlin kitcar groups? your more likely to get answers from people who've already been through all this and know.

I gave away the original Marlin bucket seats as too uncomfortable. Asked other Marlin owners but other than expensive option no sensible prices suggestions

Exactly - just 100cm of width. The fibreglass seat shells were horrible and I gave mine away.

A quick measurement would be appreciated.
I've had this dilemma for many years (car is stripped down for total rebuild) and have never found anything viable. I was thinking of adapting the rear seat out of a small hatch into a "bench" seat but most, if not all, are now cloth whereas I want vinyl.

Did consider narrowing my Midget seats but then decided it'd be easier to make a seat frame from scratch !

What about the middle seat out of a van?
The one in my Combo is about 450mm wide BUT only has a squab on the right side, if you need two you could always get one from a left hand drive van as well as the squab will be on the left side.

Good idea. Something to look into. Thanks. The double seat out of a Transit etc might be adaptable as a bench seat as well.

There are plenty of narrow kit car seats around that at first sight look expensive.

But by the time you buy a seat from somewhere else, modify it, get it professionally recovered and end up with something that is still less than ideal . . .

The Caterham branded ones in my Caterham (surprisingly) are pretty expensive, but I have spent a lot of time in them over the years, full days and half the nights on charges across Europe's back roads.

Whereas in my Dutton I have two separate repurposed sofa cushions in simple covers - perfect for the use I make of that car - one day competition use where the work okay - then remove, shove in the shed, park the car outside, the holes in the floor letting the rain out.

The one in the eBay link looks almost perfect I also need such a seat for adapting a quad into a legal mobility scooter
