I've just bought this drill.
It's a Qualters & Smith QDM 750 pillar drill in very good condition. This is a rebadged Kerrys super 8 so it has a back gear at the quill giving you a big range of speeds, from 82 to 3000rpm!
A nice original 1/2 hp motor.
Only the barest hint of a smile on the table.
Overall the drill is in great condition & it was well looked after. Everything is smooth & free so it's going to get minimal restoration. Probably just strip, clean & re-grease everything but I'm itching to strip that compact back gear mechanism to see how it works.
The paintwork isn't too bad but it the bad bits will annoy me so it will get repainted sometime.
I'll take some pics of my progress & update this thread but it might be slow!
The drill came with this 24 position indexing table.
Some surface rust but it should clean up. It is also marked in degrees so it can be used as a basic rotary table as well.
There was also this selection of stuff.
Reamers, 2 large ones still in wax. Selection of MT drills. Countersinks.
MT adapters including a very useful one that will let me use 3MT shank tools in my 2MT lathe & drill.
A 3/8", 2 x 1/2" and a 3/4" Jacobs chucks
A near mint adjustable spanner, assorted drill bits & a selection of router cutters & slot drills.
Very happy with my purchase as I've been after one of these drills for a long time & the extras were icing on the cake.
